What does Numbers 15:10 mean?
In ancient Israel, when people brought animal sacrifices to God, they didn't just offer the meat. They also poured out wine as a "drink offering" alongside it, which was part of the whole gift to God. A hin was a liquid measure (roughly a gallon), so half a hin meant about two quarts of wine, and this specific amount went with certain types of sacrifices. The idea was that everything smells good to God when it comes from a sincere heart—the aroma of the offering represented the worship rising up from the person bringing it. This tells us that God cares about the completeness of our devotion, not just going through the motions, and that bringing our gifts (whether literal or spiritual) with genuine intention matters deeply.
