Numbers 14:8
“If Yahweh delights in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it to us; a land which flows with milk and honey.”
What does Numbers 14:8 mean?
Caleb and Joshua are trying to encourage their terrified people after hearing a frightening report about the Promised Land. They're essentially saying: if God is pleased with us and wants us to succeed, then the obstacles ahead don't matter—he'll get us where we need to go. The image of a land flowing with milk and honey wasn't about literal rivers of dairy products, but rather God's way of describing abundance and blessing, a place where people could flourish. Their point cuts through all the worry and doubt: trust that God wants good things for you, and that changes everything about what's possible.
