Nehemiah 7:30

What does Nehemiah 7:30 mean?
This verse is part of a census list recording which families returned to Jerusalem after exile in Babylon. Ramah and Geba were small towns in the Benjamin region, north of Jerusalem, and together they sent 621 people back to help rebuild their homeland. The specificity of the number (not a round figure) suggests this list came from actual records kept during the return, lending it historical weight. Though it reads like dry genealogy, it's really a record of hope: real families, with names and places, choosing to return and start again after loss.
