What does Nehemiah 7:19 mean?

This verse is part of a census list documenting how many people returned to Jerusalem after the exile in Babylon. Bigvai was apparently a family clan, and this count helps us understand the scale of the rebuilding effort, the Israelites who made the long journey home and were ready to reconstruct their city and temple. These weren't just numbers on a page, but real families carrying their hopes and their faith back to the land they'd lost. Lists like this might seem dry to us today, but they represented a profound restoration, evidence that God's people had survived exile and could begin again.
