Nehemiah 6:19
“Also they spoke of his good deeds before me, and reported my words to him. Tobiah sent letters to put me in fear.”
What does Nehemiah 6:19 mean?
Nehemiah is describing how his enemies tried to undermine him through intimidation and manipulation. While some people were spreading word of Tobiah's good character to influence Nehemiah, Tobiah himself was sending threatening letters, clearly trying to shake Nehemiah's confidence as he worked to rebuild Jerusalem's walls. It's a reminder of how opposition often works: some tactics are subtle (character promotion), while others are direct (intimidation), all aimed at the same goal of derailing someone's important work. Even in the face of this coordinated pressure, Nehemiah kept moving forward with his task.
