What does Nehemiah 6:1 mean?
Nehemiah's enemies hear that Jerusalem's wall is nearly complete, and they recognize this as a serious threat to their power over the city. The wall represents restored security and independence for the Jewish people, which these opposing leaders want to prevent. Even though the work isn't quite finished (the gates still need doors), the enemies move quickly because they can see the project is succeeding and they're running out of time to stop it.
