What does Nehemiah 4:17 mean?
When the Jewish people were rebuilding Jerusalem's wall after exile, they faced real danger from enemies who wanted to stop them. This verse captures a moment when the builders had to work and defend themselves at the same time, each person balancing a tool in one hand and a weapon in the other. It's a picture of pressing forward with important work while staying alert to genuine threats around them.
