Nehemiah 2:7
“Moreover I said to the king, “If it pleases the king, let letters be given me to the governors beyond the River, that they may let me pass through until I come to Judah;”
What does Nehemiah 2:7 mean?
Nehemiah had been given permission to return to Jerusalem, but he knew one conversation with the king wasn't enough, so he asked for official documents that would smooth his path. The governors controlling the territories between Persia and Judah could have blocked him or made the journey impossible, so he wisely secured written authorization beforehand. This shows practical faith, where Nehemiah didn't just trust God and hope for the best, but actually took reasonable steps to remove obstacles. Sometimes honoring God means asking for what we need, preparing well, and using the legitimate resources available to us.
