Nehemiah 13:2
“because they didn’t meet the children of Israel with bread and with water, but hired Balaam against them, to curse them; however our God turned the curse into a blessing.”
What does Nehemiah 13:2 mean?
When the Israelites were wandering in the desert after leaving Egypt, the Moabites refused to help them with basic supplies like food and water, and worse, they hired a man named Balaam to curse them. What could have destroyed Israel became the opposite: God transformed Balaam's curse into a blessing instead. This reminds us that when people work against God's purposes, their efforts often backfire, and God protects those he loves even when they face opposition. The story shows that hostility toward God's people doesn't have the final say, and that God's protection is more powerful than any human scheme against us.
