What does Nehemiah 12:2 mean?

This verse is simply a name from a list of priests who returned from exile in Babylon to rebuild Jerusalem and its temple. Amariah, Malluch, and Hattush were among the religious leaders responsible for helping their community restore worship and community life after decades away from home. These lists might seem like just genealogies, but they matter because they show real people stepping into hard work during vulnerable times. Each name represents someone choosing to return and rebuild, which can speak to us when we're working to restore our own lives or communities after difficulty.
