I will yet bring to you, inhabitant of Mareshah. He who is the glory of Israel will come to Adullam.

What does Micah 1:15 mean?

God is speaking through the prophet Micah about judgment coming to specific towns in Judah, but this verse hints at something deeper than destruction. Mareshah was a real city that would face invasion, yet the promise here suggests that even in loss, there's a future involving the "glory of Israel"—ultimately pointing to a deliverer or restoration. The reference to Adullam (known as a place of refuge) may indicate that while judgment comes, God's protection and purpose don't disappear. This captures a pattern throughout Scripture where hardship isn't God's final word; there's always hope woven through the difficulty.
