What does Matthew 9:24 mean?
When Jesus arrived at a synagogue leader's house to heal a dying girl, he found mourners already gathered, treating her death as final. His claim that she was merely sleeping seemed absurd to them, even cruel, so they laughed at him. What Jesus meant was that her condition, though it appeared permanent to human eyes, was temporary and reversible in God's hands.
