What does Matthew 4:14 mean?

Matthew is about to show us how Jesus' life connects to the Old Testament prophecies that Jewish people had been waiting for over centuries. When Matthew writes "that it might be fulfilled," he's saying that what happens in Jesus isn't random, but part of God's long plan that was announced ahead of time through the prophets. This kind of connection would have meant a lot to his original audience, who knew those ancient scriptures well and were trying to understand who Jesus really was. It's Matthew's way of saying: look, this isn't just a story, this is the continuation of something God promised long ago.
