Matthew 3:17
“Behold, a voice out of the heavens said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.””
What does Matthew 3:17 mean?
At Jesus's baptism, God the Father speaks directly from heaven to affirm his Son. This declaration carries deep meaning: God is saying that Jesus is uniquely his, deeply loved, and completely approved. In that moment, heaven opens up and makes public what's true about who Jesus is, giving him affirmation before his ministry even begins. For those of us who often struggle with whether we're "enough" or whether we belong, this moment reminds us that ultimate acceptance comes not from our performance but from relationship, and that God speaks words of love and approval into our lives too.
