Matthew 25:24
““He also who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you that you are a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you did not scatter.”
What does Matthew 25:24 mean?
The servant with one talent is making an excuse for his inaction, claiming his master is unfairly demanding and takes what he hasn't earned. But notice what he's really doing: he's blaming the master for his own fear and passivity instead of taking responsibility for what he was given. The servant is describing someone harsh and unjust, yet we'll see in the next verses that this master actually wanted his servants to use their gifts and grow them, not hide them away. His words reveal more about his own anxious, self-protective heart than about his master's actual character.
