What does Matthew 21:20 mean?

The disciples were stunned to see the fig tree Jesus had cursed moments earlier now completely dried up. Jesus had used this as a visual lesson about faith and the power of words spoken with genuine belief, so their astonishment makes sense, they'd never seen anything like this before. Behind their amazement is a deeper question that Jesus will answer: what does it mean to ask for things in faith, and how does belief actually work in our lives? For those of us struggling to understand prayer or wondering if our faith really matters, this moment invites us to consider whether we truly believe in the power of what we ask for.
