What does Matthew 20:12 mean?
The workers hired at the end of the day are protesting because the owner paid them the same wage as those who worked since dawn. Their complaint feels fair on the surface, the workers who labored through the hottest part of the day naturally expect to earn more than those who showed up near closing time. But this parable is really asking us to examine our assumptions about fairness and what we think we deserve from God's generosity.
