What does Matthew 20:10 mean?

The workers who arrived at dawn, having labored through the heat of the day, expected to be paid proportionally more than those hired just before sunset. When they discovered everyone received the same daily wage (a denarius), their disappointment was sharp and immediate. This moment captures how we naturally measure fairness by our own effort and sacrifice, only to find God's generosity operates on entirely different math. The point isn't that their work didn't matter, but that grace doesn't follow a ledger.
