Matthew 18:7
““Woe to the world because of occasions of stumbling! For it must be that the occasions come, but woe to that person through whom the occasion comes!”
What does Matthew 18:7 mean?
Jesus isn't saying that causing others to sin is acceptable because temptation inevitably exists. Rather, he's acknowledging a hard reality: in a broken world, people will face pressure to do wrong. But that recognition doesn't excuse those who deliberately lead others astray or exploit their vulnerabilities. The weight of responsibility falls heavily on anyone who puts temptation in another person's path, especially those in positions of trust or influence. This is Jesus speaking with urgency about how seriously he takes the spiritual welfare of others, particularly vulnerable people.
