Matthew 13:52
“He said to them, “Therefore every scribe who has been made a disciple in the Kingdom of Heaven is like a man who is a householder, who brings out of his treasure new and old things.””
What does Matthew 13:52 mean?
Jesus is describing what it looks like when someone truly learns his way of living and thinking. He compares a disciple to a homeowner with a full storehouse, someone who can draw from both what's been valuable for generations and what's fresh and newly understood. The point isn't that everything old is good or everything new is better, but that spiritual wisdom involves knowing how to use both, like pulling out exactly what's needed in any given moment. If you're on a faith journey, this is good news: you don't have to choose between honoring tradition and discovering something real and new about God today. Both have their place, and the maturity that comes from following Jesus is learning which to reach for when.
