What does Matthew 13:22 mean?
In this parable, Jesus describes someone who genuinely hears God's message but never lets it take root in their life. The "thorns" represent the constant pressure of worldly worries—financial stress, ambitions, and all the things that demand our mental and emotional energy day after day. When we're consumed by anxiety about money or consumed by wanting more of it, there's simply no room for God's word to grow and shape who we are. What makes this particularly gentle a warning is that Jesus isn't talking about obviously "bad" people. These are people who do listen, who encounter truth, but then life crowds it out. The word becomes unfruitful not because of rejection but because of neglect under pressure.
