What does Matthew 11:8 mean?
Jesus is gently challenging the crowds who went into the wilderness to see John the Baptist. He's asking: did you expect to find some pampered, comfortable man living an easy life? Of course not, he points out, because people dressed in luxury live in palaces, not in the desert preaching repentance.
