What does Matthew 11:30 mean?
Jesus is inviting people who feel worn down by life to find rest by following him instead of carrying the impossible weight of trying to earn God's favor through endless rules and self-effort. The "yoke" is the wooden frame that joins oxen together for work, so he's saying that living in relationship with him actually makes life easier, not harder, even though it still requires commitment. When you stop fighting against how God designed you to live and instead move in the same direction he's going, the strain disappears. For anyone exhausted by shame, perfectionism, or the feeling that they're never enough, this is an invitation to set down that burden and discover that following Jesus can be genuinely lighter than the life you've been living.
