Mark 8:7
“They had a few small fish. Having blessed them, he said to serve these also.”
What does Mark 8:7 mean?
Jesus had just fed thousands with five loaves and a couple of fish, and now he's doing something similar again, but this time with seven loaves and a few small fish. When he blesses these meager fish before distributing them, he's showing that God can work with whatever we have, no matter how inadequate it seems. There's something deeply comforting here for anyone who feels like they don't have enough to offer. The disciples looked at a handful of fish and probably thought, "This won't go far." But Jesus blessed it anyway and told them to serve it. He wasn't waiting for abundance to act, and he wasn't dismissing what little they had. He was modeling trust in God's provision and showing us that our small offerings, when given with gratitude, are enough.
