What does Mark 8:4 mean?
The disciples are genuinely puzzled, not because they lack faith, but because the math seems impossible. Jesus has just asked how to feed a large crowd in a remote area, and they're pointing out the obvious problem: there are no stores, no supply lines, nothing around them. Their question is practical and honest, which makes it very human. What makes this moment significant is that it sets up Jesus doing something miraculous, but it also shows us that the disciples are willing to voice their doubts and limitations right to him. That's actually how many of us come to faith—by being real about what we can't do and what seems impossible, and then seeing God work anyway.
