What does Mark 6:31 mean?
Jesus tells his disciples to step away from the crowds and rest, recognizing something we often ignore: you can't pour from an empty cup. The disciples had been working so hard with people constantly arriving and leaving that they didn't even have time to eat. Jesus wasn't suggesting rest was optional or self-indulgent, he was treating it as necessary care, the same way a teacher might insist a student take a break before an exam. This matters especially for those feeling stretched thin or burned out. Jesus knew his followers needed restoration to continue serving well, and he made space for it rather than allowing endless demands to consume them. Sometimes the most faithful thing you can do is step back, breathe, and let yourself be cared for.
