What does Mark 4:40 mean?

Jesus asks this question after calming a terrifying storm while his disciples panic in the boat. He's not shaming them for being scared in a genuinely dangerous situation, but rather pointing out the gap between what they've already witnessed of his power and their response in that moment. It's an invitation to remember: they've seen him heal the sick and cast out demons, yet in crisis, fear took over instead of trust. His question gently challenges us to notice when we forget what we know about God's faithfulness and let anxiety become our default. For anyone struggling to hold onto faith during hard times, this verse acknowledges how real and understandable fear is, while also whispering that there's another way available to us.
