What does Mark 4:31 mean?
Jesus is describing how God's kingdom starts impossibly small, almost laughably insignificant. A mustard seed was one of the tiniest seeds people knew about in first-century Palestine, so small you could barely see it, yet it grows into a surprisingly large plant that birds can nest in. He's speaking to people who might have felt discouraged or overlooked, reminding them that God often does his most powerful work through what looks weak or worthless to the world. Your own faith, your small act of kindness, your whispered prayer in a dark moment, doesn't need to be impressive or visible to matter deeply. What matters is that it's planted and tended, and God handles the growing.
