Mark 4:25
“For whoever has, to him will more be given, and he who doesn’t have, even that which he has will be taken away from him.””
What does Mark 4:25 mean?
Jesus speaks here about a spiritual principle that applies to how we receive and use what God gives us. When we genuinely engage with faith, truth, or spiritual understanding, we find ourselves growing in those areas—more insight comes, more peace deepens, more love expands. But when we ignore, reject, or neglect what we've been given, even that begins to slip away from us. This can feel harsh, but it's describing something we all experience in smaller ways: a skill you don't practice deteriorates, a relationship you don't invest in withers, an understanding you don't think about fades. Jesus is warning us that spiritual life works the same way. The good news is that it starts with our choices about what we do with what we already have, no matter how small that seems right now.
