What does Mark 3:9 mean?
Jesus is surrounded by so many people desperate for healing and help that he needs an escape plan. He asks his disciples to keep a small boat ready nearby, positioned as a kind of buffer zone between him and the pressing crowd. It's a surprisingly practical moment: even as Jesus is doing miraculous work, he needs space to breathe and somewhere to retreat when the human need around him becomes overwhelming. There's something tender here about recognizing limits, even while doing extraordinary things. The boat becomes both a sanctuary and a way for Jesus to continue teaching, since he can step into it and speak to the crowds from a short distance away.
