Mark 14:25
“Most certainly I tell you, I will no more drink of the fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it anew in God’s Kingdom.””
What does Mark 14:25 mean?
Jesus speaks these words at his final meal with his disciples, just before his arrest and crucifixion. He's telling them that this shared meal marks a turning point, that he won't drink wine again until everything is made right in God's Kingdom. There's both sorrow and hope woven together here. Jesus knows what's coming, the suffering ahead, yet he's anchoring his followers to a promise. He's saying this painful separation won't be permanent, that there's a future celebration waiting. It's his way of telling them (and us) that even in the darkest moments, God's restoration is certain. The "fruit of the vine" becomes a symbol not just of loss, but of a reunion that's already promised.
