What does Mark 13:3 mean?

Jesus had just predicted the temple's destruction, which shocked his disciples deeply. Now, sitting where they could see the temple across the valley, four of his closest followers approach him quietly, away from the crowds, because they need real answers to what he meant. There's something tender in this moment: they're confused and troubled, so they go directly to Jesus with their questions rather than letting fear or doubt fester alone. This sets up one of Jesus' longest teachings about the future, given not to impress a crowd but to comfort and prepare the people closest to him.
