What does Mark 13:28 mean?
Jesus uses something his listeners saw every year—a fig tree leafing out—to teach them about recognizing signs. When you notice the branches getting soft and green leaves appearing, you automatically know warm weather is coming. He's building toward a bigger point about spiritual readiness: just as nature follows a predictable pattern that people can read, there are signs in the world that point to important spiritual realities. The lesson is really about paying attention to what's happening around you, not being caught off guard or living carelessly. If you can read the seasons, Jesus suggests, you should be able to read the times you're living in too.
