What does Mark 10:50 mean?
A blind beggar named Bartimaeus has just called out desperately to Jesus as he passed by, and when Jesus stopped to listen, something shifted in that moment. This verse captures the urgency of his response: he literally throws off his cloak (which would have been his blanket, his cushion, probably his most valuable possession) and jumps to his feet. There's no hesitation, no "let me think about this" or "give me a moment to gather my things." When he sensed that Jesus might actually help him, everything else became irrelevant. His willingness to abandon even the little he had shows the depth of his hope and his conviction that meeting Jesus was worth any cost.
