Mark 10:26
“They were exceedingly astonished, saying to him, “Then who can be saved?””
What does Mark 10:26 mean?
The disciples had just heard Jesus say it's nearly impossible for the rich to enter God's kingdom, and his words hit them hard. In their world, wealth was often seen as a sign of God's blessing, so they're genuinely shocked and confused, wondering if anyone at all can make it into heaven. Their question reflects the fear and desperation many of us feel when we realize we can't earn our way to God through our own effort or status. What they're about to discover, though, is that salvation isn't about what we can do for ourselves, but about what God does for us.
