What does Malachi 4:5 mean?
God is promising to send someone like Elijah before His final judgment arrives, giving people a chance to turn back to Him. In Jewish tradition, Elijah was taken up to heaven without dying, so this prophecy became a sign of hope: the appearance of an Elijah-like figure would signal that God hadn't abandoned His people and was about to act.
