What does Luke 9:1 mean?
Jesus gathered his twelve closest followers and gave them real, tangible power, something like what he himself possessed. They were equipped not just with teaching or encouragement, but with actual authority over spiritual forces and the ability to heal people. This moment marks a significant step in their journey, moving them from simply following Jesus and learning from him to becoming active participants in his healing and liberating work. He's essentially saying to them: you've seen what I can do, now you're ready to do it too.
