Luke 8:9
“Then his disciples asked him, “What does this parable mean?””
What does Luke 8:9 mean?
The disciples are asking Jesus to explain the parable of the sower, which he'd just told to a large crowd gathered by the lake. Rather than leaving them confused, Jesus takes time to walk them through what the different soils and seeds represent, showing that parables were meant to be understood, not to be mysterious puzzles. There's something encouraging here: asking "what does this mean?" is not a sign of weakness or failing faith, but an honest step toward understanding. Jesus welcomes the question and rewards the disciples' willingness to admit they need clarification.
