Luke 8:16

“No one, when he has lit a lamp, covers it with a container, or puts it under a bed; but puts it on a stand, that those who enter in may see the light.

What does Luke 8:16 mean?

Jesus is teaching that when you've been given something valuable, something that brings light or clarity, you're meant to share it openly, not hide it away. A lamp in an ancient home was too precious and too useful to cover up or tuck under furniture where it would do no good. In the same way, the faith, hope, gifts, or truth we've received aren't meant to be kept private or locked away where they can't help anyone. When you let your light shine openly, people around you can actually find their way, see what's true, and find hope in what they observe. This speaks to both the natural overflow of a living faith and an invitation to stop being afraid of letting others see what matters most to you.
