What does Luke 7:38 mean?
A woman, likely from the streets and known in town for her sinful life, crashes a dinner party where Jesus is a guest. Overwhelmed by his presence and what seems to be his acceptance of her, she can't hold back her tears, which fall on his feet as she stands behind him. She uses her own hair to dry his feet, then kisses them and pours expensive perfume over them, a gesture of complete humility and gratitude. This moment is stunning because everything about her actions would have made her ritually unclean by the standards of that time. A respected rabbi shouldn't allow such a woman to touch him, yet Jesus welcomes her love without hesitation.
