Luke 6:33
“If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same.”
What does Luke 6:33 mean?
Jesus is pointing out something uncomfortable about human nature: we naturally return kindness to people who are kind to us. It feels good, it's easy, and it doesn't cost us much. But this everyday kindness isn't really the kind of love Jesus is calling us toward. What makes real transformation is extending goodness to people who haven't earned it, who may not deserve it, or who've even hurt us. That requires something deeper than our instincts, something that looks more like the unconditional love of God himself. When we do that, we're moving beyond what comes naturally to us—we're growing into something greater.
