What does Luke 4:2 mean?
Jesus spent forty days in the wilderness fasting and facing temptation, and by the end he was genuinely, physically hungry. This wasn't a symbolic or easy trial, but a real test of his dependence on God and his refusal to use his power for self-comfort. The devil came after him at his weakest point, which is when temptation often hits hardest, whether we're depleted physically, emotionally, or spiritually. What makes this meaningful for us is that Jesus experienced real hunger and real pressure to compromise, so when we face our own struggles and temptations, we know we're not dealing with someone distant who doesn't understand what it feels like to be worn down.
