What does Luke 23:34 mean?

Even as Jesus hung dying, his first concern was for those hurting him. He asks God to forgive the soldiers and crowds who executed him, recognizing that they didn't grasp the significance of what they were doing. This prayer shows us that forgiveness isn't about deciding whether someone deserves it, but about extending mercy anyway, even in our darkest moments. For those of us wrestling with anger or hurt, Jesus models something almost unimaginable: choosing compassion when we have every right to demand justice instead.
