What does Luke 22:68 mean?

Jesus is predicting what will happen during his trial. He's saying to those arresting him that he already knows they won't engage with his answers honestly, and they won't release him no matter what he says. It's a moment of clarity about the injustice he's walking into, not a question seeking reassurance, but a statement of resigned certainty. Even if he explains himself, they've already decided his fate. This captures something true about moments when power and prejudice have already made up their minds: sometimes the outcome isn't determined by truth or persuasion, but by what people have already chosen to believe.
