What does Luke 22:2 mean?
The religious leaders wanted Jesus dead, but they faced a real problem: the crowds loved him. So they had to scheme carefully, looking for a way to arrest and execute him without sparking a public uprising that could bring Roman soldiers down on everyone. Their fear of the people actually delayed their plans, until they found Judas willing to hand Jesus over secretly. This verse shows how political fear and religious opposition worked together against Jesus, and it reminds us that even when powerful people feel threatened, their plans often work differently than they expect.
