Luke 21:6
““As for these things which you see, the days will come, in which there will not be left here one stone on another that will not be thrown down.””
What does Luke 21:6 mean?
Jesus is talking about the temple in Jerusalem, warning his disciples that this magnificent building they're admiring will be completely destroyed. He's speaking about something that historically happened in 70 AD when Roman forces tore down the temple stone by stone. This wasn't meant to be a distant prophecy to puzzle over, but an urgent message that the familiar religious center of their world wouldn't last forever. For the disciples hearing this, it would have been shocking and hard to accept. Jesus used this stark prediction to redirect their attention from trusting in buildings and institutions to trusting in God himself. Even when everything we can see and touch falls away, God's presence and kingdom remain. If you're going through a season where structures you relied on have crumbled, this verse reminds us that our security was never meant to rest on earthly things anyway.
