Luke 20:38
“Now he is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for all are alive to him.””
What does Luke 20:38 mean?
Jesus is responding to people who doubted the reality of resurrection. He reminds them that God isn't concerned with what's finished or forgotten, but with what's alive and real. When God calls himself the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (long after they died), he's saying those people still matter to him, still exist in his sight, still belong to him. This speaks to the heart of Christian hope: death isn't the final word, and God's love doesn't end when a life on earth does. If you're grieving someone or wrestling with fears about mortality, this verse suggests that the people we love aren't lost to God, even when they're lost to us. God holds them and knows them completely.
