What does Luke 20:27 mean?
The Sadducees were a Jewish group who accepted only the written law and rejected newer beliefs about the afterlife that had developed over time. By introducing them this way, Luke is setting up a question they're about to ask Jesus, one designed to mock the idea of resurrection by proposing an absurd scenario.
