What does Luke 2:33 mean?
Mary and Joseph had just brought baby Jesus to the temple in Jerusalem, where an elderly man named Simeon recognized him as the promised Messiah and spoke about his future significance. This verse captures their stunned reaction to hearing these extraordinary things about their infant son, even though Mary had experienced the angel Gabriel's announcement before his birth. Their amazement reminds us that faith doesn't mean you understand everything that's happening, even when you've been promised something remarkable. Sometimes we're simply called to hold onto what we've been told and marvel at how God unfolds his purposes in ways we never could have predicted.
