What does Luke 2:12 mean?
The angel is giving the shepherds a way to recognize Jesus when they go looking for him, because newborns wrapped in cloth were common enough that they'd need something to identify the right child. A feeding trough (manger) was an unusual and humble place for a birth, which makes it the unmistakable marker: this is where you'll find the one who changes everything. It's a beautiful detail that shows Jesus wasn't born in comfort or prominence, but in the most ordinary, accessible circumstances.
